Bill Murray could face a drink driving charge in after he refused a breathalyser test in Sweden– citing US law.
Murray was pulled over by police after he was spotted driving a golf cart through downtown Stockholm on Sunday.
Detective-Inspector Christer Holmlund claims that the Groundhog Day star smelled of alcohol when police officers pulled him over.
"He refused to blow in the (breathalyser) instrument, citing American legislation," Holmlund told The Associated Press. "So we applied the old method - a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are in."
The Detective also claims that Murray signed a document admitting that he was driving under the influence, and granted that a police officer plead guilty on his behalf if the case goes to court.
"Then he was let go. My guess is he went back to America,"
He added: "There were no obvious signs, like when someone is really tipsy,"
“It was a golf cart. How it ended up in this predicament I don't know,"
"I have done this since '68 and I've never experienced anything like this."
If the tests conclude that Murray was driving under the influence he could face heavy fines and possible imprisonment.
