    Biography

Vitaly Klichko

Remembering their childhood, Vitali and Wladimir consider it a happy one. It couldn't have been otherwise. They were wild, played football, moved from one city to another, changed schools, dreamed but never knew that in near future Wladimir would become the Olympic champion, and that Vitali's name would be added to the Guinness World Records book; that they would become world boxing champions, doctorate graduates, authors of best-selling book Our Fitness, presidents of the international fund "Sports - XXI century," representatives of UNESCO in support of its program "education for children in need"; that they would be in a Hollywood movie Ocean Eleven, have their own line of clothes, assist with improving relations between Ukraine and Germany, work with world famous company HUGO BOSS; that they'll travel all over the world, become guests of honor at the "Monte-Carlo World Music Awards" and "Echo"; that among their friends would be Bill Clinton Arnold Schwarzenegger Sylvester Stallone Julia Roberts George Clooney Michael Schumacher Bon Jovi Brad Pitt Giorgio Armani, Mohammed Ali:
And all this before their thirties. What will happen next?

Vitali Klitschko was born on July 19, 1971 in Belovodsk settlement (Kyrghyzstan).
Wladimir Klitschko - on March 25, 1976 in Semipalatinsk (Kazakhstan).
Father - Wladimir Rodionovich - colonel of Air Force.
Mother - Nadezhda Ulyanovna - attendant.
Together with parents, Klitschko brothers have traveled all over the former USSR.
In 1985 they moved to Ukraine.
Childhood playful fights and wrestling gradually developed into serious hobbies of kickboxing for Vitali and boxing for Wladimir.
In rather short time, Vitali achieved significant successes - becoming sixfold world kickboxing champion (two times as armature and four times as professional), three-time Ukrainian heavyweight champion in boxing, champion of the 1st World Military Games (Italy, 1995), and silver medallist in the World Boxing Championship.
Wladimir this whole time kept up with the older brother. Already at the age of seventeen he became the champion of Europe among juniors, a five time boxing champion of Ukraine, Champion of the 1st World Military Games (-91kg), and the silver medallist of European Championship. His greatest achievement during amateur career - a gold medal and the rank of boxing champion in a super heavyweight division during the Olympic games of 1996 in Atlanta.
For his victory, Wladimir has awarded medal "for courage" by the Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma.
Vitali and Wladimir have a strong brotherly bond, yet there is a constant competition between them, which motivates them for more victories and bigger achievements. Probably that's the reason for their success.
June 21, 2003 Dr. Vitali Klitschko lost the WBC championship bout against the British titleholder Lennox Lewis in the Staples Center of Los Angeles by way of TKO after six rounds. It was a big disappointment to Vitali Klitschko. Leading on points after six rounds, referee Dr. Lou Moret stopped the fight during the break between rounds six and seven on advice of the doctor. In the third round, Vitali had suffered a deep cut above the left eye. Whether this was due to a head butt by Lewis or a punch was not immediately clear. After a rather hectic start, a tremendously intense bout developed. Both fighters seemed to have lost their tactics and tried hard for the decisive knockout punch. And it was Vitali, who dominated the match. Vitali was ahead by 58:56 on all scorecards. "No, No, No" - that was Vitali's immediate reaction after the fight was stopped. "I controlled the match, I was irritated and shocked. I really did not know why the referee was stopping the fight. The injury wasn't grave, at all. I could see everything," said Vitali. Thus to this day we wouldn't know the real winner of Lewis- Klitschko, since Lennox retired it's unlikely that there will be a rematch.

Vitali Klitschko is married. His wife is a former athlete and model Natalia Egorova. They met in Kiev and got married in April of 1996.
And on May 16, 2000 in the lives of Vitali and Natalia was a joyful event - at nine o'clock in the morning Egor-Daniel Klitschko was born. On November 24, 2002 Vitali and Natalia Klitschko celebrated of their daughter Elizabeth-Victoria. She was born at six o'clock in the evening Kiev time. "That day in Germany I carried out a fight with Larry Donald. Few hours before the fight I learned about the birth of my daughter. I wanted to knockout by opponent as soon as possible, so that I could finish the fight and join my family. We decided to name our daughter Elizabeth- Victoria.
On April, 2005, 1st at 9:30 a.m. local time Los Angeles, in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the youngest member of the family Klitschko, Max Klitschko, was born.
